How am I finding assessing the course in an online environment ossibilities in education

Assessing now is much quicker and the store and recall of information much faster. Access to learning material is far more flexible and easier to

To interact with others in a chat session is very stimulating and challenging as you must read and comment in an intellectual way.

In education it can be used in languages for example have a conversation with friends(blog), pod cast book reviews , collecting resources for homework assignments, creative design of for example advertisement etc.

On line learning

Learning on line is really a great priveledge. Having facilities at a school is a great oppotunity to develop learners to their full potential in this everchanging technological world.
Although very new and somewhat unfamiliar to me to assess in an online environment it is also exciting and I look forward to it. With children you need to be on top of your game and not expect to be perfect from the word go. It is a learning process. The fact that I get to practice first and sharpen my skills with this course is great. I also realise my responsibility to lead the rest of my staff in this new experience.
In a school it is a joint effort from everybody. Firstly from teachers who must provide notes(class and homework), lesson details, homework tasks, assessment deails, dates of assessment(assesment plans) date of meetings etc. This is used to communicate with parents and can replace newsletters and phonecalls. Parents can be involved in their child's education and  do not have an excuse for not knowing or learners who don't give letters to parents. For both parents and learners it can also be used for revision and practice of their schoolwork. This mean if a child don't understand the parent can pick it up immediatly and ask the teacher to explain or give assistance. Marks can also be posted as continuous assessment progress through the year and parents know how their child is performing every step of the way. Parents can immediatly be notified of school attendance or rather non-attendace or late coming for school, and parents can let the school know of any sickness or happenings.   Admin staff also needs to be more attentive as the responsibility of posting and updating infromation will mostly be theirs.
Online learning and technologies available at school can also assist those learners who do not have it at home in finding information and recources.
To also get viewpoints of others is also very nice and interesting as this help you to better understanding and of course the freedom to get information, work, notes etc at any time and in any pace.

Myself

Hi, I completed my studies many years ago at RAU now UJ. Two years ago through the department of education I got a bursary and did the ACE certificate in Maths here at Wits. I really enjoyed this and decided to study further this year. I wanted to study full time but apparently you can't if you have got a full time work!!
This brings me to my 'full time' work. I am a teacher at Elandspark Special School in Bedfordview. This is a school for mild intellectually disabled learners. They are of high school age. They follow an adapted curriculum, as half of the day they spend in practical vocational workshops picking up a trade, such as hairdressing, typing, motor mechanics, building, woodwork, panel beating etc. We have 50 staff members and 3 occupational therapists. I big staff for 750 learners but still to little for their educational needs.
I love coaching cricket and athletics as well as the gumboots group (for our eisteddfod) in our school.  I am also a  qualified  score keeper and empire in cricket, which takes up a little less time  than coaching, but still keeps me close to the sport I love.
I love challenges and it was really a toss up between on line learning or Maths. This time on line learning won and I love every second of it.
